When you see or hear something, say something, even if you’re not sure if a threat is real.

That was the case on Tuesday morning at Toms River High School South.

Toms River Police said in a statement Tuesday morning that they were provided with an anonymous tip around 6:45 am about a possible bomb at Toms River High School South.

The school administration was made aware right away and they evacuated the school building as a precaution.

Toms River Police and Ocean County Sheriff K-9 bomb officers then arrived on scene and search the school grounds and inside the school but found no bomb.

When the school was given the all clear by police, students and staff were allowed to return inside the school building.

Toms River Police said that the tip they received came in via an anonymous tipline with the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness.

“It was stated in the tip that the person was unsure if what they overheard was a joke or an actual threat and wanted to alert authorities just in case. We commend them for alerting authorities. See something, say something, it’s always better to be safe!”
