Girls high school flag football playoff brackets released

PHOENIX — The 34th season of Friday Night Fever is ready for the playoffs! Already, the 1A (8-man football) playoffs have reached the quarterfinals and this week, history will be made in Arizona. 

That’s because the first-ever playoffs for girls flag football will begin with the round of 16 and the quarterfinals in both 6A and 5A! 

As a refresher, 55 teams played in the two conferences. The season began on Aug. 29 with teams playing 1-3 games per week since for a total of 10-13 games with most teams playing 12. 

The regular season wrapped up on Thursday, Oct. 19 and the playoff brackets were released on Oct. 21. 

Let’s take a look at the brackets, starting in 6A.

Here are the overall seeds. Teams in bold are region champions.

In both conferences, the girls flag football quarterfinals will be held on Thursday, Oct. 26. The semifinals will be held on Nov. 1 and the state championship games will be played on Nov. 4. 

The quarterfinals and semifinals will be played at the higher-seeded schools and the state championships will be played at Mountain View High School in Mesa. The 5A game will be at 3 p.m. on Nov. 4 and the 6A game will be at 6 p.m.
