ACTON — The Eastside girls flag football team picked up its first win of the season with an 8-6, non-league victory over Vasquez on Wednesday at Vasquez High.
The Lions (1-15) scored on the first drive of the game and picked up a two-point conversion to make it 8-0.
Vasquez got on the board on Brooklyn Berger’s 30-yard quarterback run right before halftime, but the Mustangs (7-4) didn’t convert the extra point to make it 8-6.
“Overall, we just couldn’t get anything going offensively,” Vasquez coach Anthony Salsedo said. “We made too many mistakes and didn’t convert the opportunities we had to keep drives alive or to score.”
The Lions finish the season with a Golden League game against Littlerock on Monday. Vasquez has two games left, beginning at Westridge on Tuesday.
