Women’s Pro Tennis Championship
The 2022 Daytona Beach Women’s Pro Tennis Championship continues Friday, May 6, with the quarterfinals and double semi-finals at 1 Deuce No. 200, Daytona Beach.
General admission is free from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Kids Day is Saturday, May 7. There will be free food and drink from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The singles semi-final will be from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. and doubles final will start after the second singles match. General admission is $10. There are discounts for Florida Tennis Center members and Greater Volusia Tennis League Members.
The singles final will be at noon, Sunday, May 8. General admission is $10. The discounts continue for center members and league members. Mothers can receive a free Vera Bradly tote.

Special needs fishing tournament
The Halifax Sport Fishing Club will host its annual Special Needs Fishing Tournament from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at the pier under the Dunlawton Bridge in Port Orange.
Participants sign up from 8:30 to 9 a.m.
The tournament is geared to help children and young adults with physical and mental handicaps have a fun day catching fish.
Goody bags are given out to the first 75 who register. Fishing rods and bait are provided along with lunch and beverages. Club members will be there to assist.

Daytona Tortugas
The Daytona Tortugas will face the Jupiter Hammerheads at 7:05 p.m. Friday, May 5 to Saturday, May 7, and 5:35 p.m. Sunday, May 8, at Jackie Robinson Ballpark, 105 E. Orange Ave., Daytona Beach.
Tickets start at $8 for youth and seniors and $10 for adult general admission.
College Sports
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Baseball will play Barry at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 8 and noon and 3 p.m. Sunday, May 9.

Tennis camp information
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University will host summer tennis camps from 9 a.m. to noon, July 11 to 15 and July 18 to 22, at the ERAU Crotty Center Tennis Complex, 1 Aerospace Blvd., Daytona Beach.
Camp is for beginners and advance players. The cost is $165. Scholarships are available for players in kindergarten to eighth grade. Rackets available to borrow.
Campers will learn stroke mechanics, match play, fitness and team building, and have fun.

Youth flag football
Registration has begun for the Port Orange Parks & Recreation Youth Flag Football League.
The league is for children 5 to 13 (as of May 30, 2022) with games from June 20 to July 28.
The cost is $55 for ages six and under, and $75 for ages 7 to 13.
Registration ends May 15 and there will be a skills assessment May 23.

Mayor’s Golf Tournament
The 36th annual Port Orange Mayor’s Invitational Golf Tournament will be Saturday, June 18, at Cypress Head Golf Club .
Teams of four will take on 18 holes in a scramble format.
Continental breakfast, cart and green fees, range balls, golf polo, two drink tickets, door prizes and awards buffet luncheon will be provided.
Proceeds from this year’s tournament benefit the Port Orange Parks and Recreation youth scholarship fund .

Sugar Mill women compete in Solheim Cup
The Sugar Mill Women’s Golf Association 18 Hole Division completed its final major tournament of the 2021-22 golf season in April with the Solheim Cup.
The three-day competition featured two-member teams playing a scramble, a modified Chapman alternate shot format, and concluding with a better ball of the partners on the third day.
Flight 1 winners were Low Gross, Helga Lind and Patty Weiss; Low Net, Barbara Naglak and Barbara Hales.
Flight 2 winners were Low Gross, Kathy Coombs and Diane Ewald; Low Net, Gale Campisi and Julie Patton.
Flight 3 winners were Low Gross, Gloria Clegg and Susan Lucas; Low Net, Barbara Skinner and Kaylene Curtis .
Flight 4 winners were Low Gross, Karen Chapple and Dori Peterson; Low Net, Donna Ayoubee and Pat Seaton.
Tournament Co-Chairs Helga Lind and Lorene Nix were in charge of all three of the majors for this golf season.
Softball League
A 50 and older men’s softball league is now forming for the summer season, which will begin Tuesday, June 2.
Games are played on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Derbyshire Park in Daytona Beach.
