It’s time to vote for the Volusia-Flagler-St. Johns Athlete of the Week for the week of Feb. 14-19. All in-season sports will be eligible.
Last week, Matanzas’ Tiana Fries was named the latest Athlete of the Week, receiving over 43% of the 10,901 votes that were cast.
Fries won the inaugural District 3 Wrestling Championship at 110 lbs.
The News-Journal and Record gather nominees from scores and stats e-mailed to the sports desk during the week by coaches across the area. Coaches can email nominees to sports@news-jrnl.com.
Voting begins each Monday and closes at 10 a.m. Thursday. Votes are restricted to once per device per hour.

Soccer
Avery Robinson, Creekside: Scored the game-winning goal in Creekside’s state semifinal win over Palm Harbor.
Andres Villasana, Ponte Vedra: Scored a pair of goals to lead Ponte Vedra to a comeback regional final win over East Ridge.
Wrestling
Jah’Mya Hill, Mainland: The Bucs’ sole regional champ last week.
Jamey Bruner, New Smyrna Beach: Bruner continued his scorching year at districts and added a regional title to his 42-4 record.
Basketball
Ross Candelino, Ponte Vedra: Put up 19 points and eight rebounds to lead the Sharks to a blowout win in the first round over Booker T. Washington.
Cami Robinson, Nease: The junior scored 32 points in two games including 18 in the Panthers’ 49-33 regional championship win over St. Augustine.
