Seckman High School homecoming game on Sept. 15 | Local Events

Seckman High School will roll into its annual homecoming football game undefeated.

The Jaguars improved to 3-0 this season on Sept. 8 with a 56-7 home victory over Northwest.

For the homecoming game, Seckman plays host to the Mehlville High School Panthers (0-3) at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15. Tickets for the game cost $5 for adults and $3 for students.

Seckman will gear up for the game with a parade set for 6 p.m. today, Sept. 14. The parade will begin near the intersection of Old Lemay Ferry and Seckman roads in Imperial and proceed east on Seckman Road to the Seckman campus, which is home to elementary, middle and high schools.

The parade will end at the high school, said Valerie Adkins, a Seckman High math teacher and Student Council sponsor.

“School organizations from Seckman High School and the elementaries and middle schools that feed into the high school have been invited to participate,” Adkins said.

“Seckman Road will be shut down temporarily from Old Lemay Ferry to Seckman High School during that time.”

The homecoming queen will be crowned at halftime during the homecoming game, and the king will be crowned during the dance, scheduled for Saturday evening, Sept. 16, Adkins said.

The homecoming court is made up of juniors Josie Appel, Chloe Nichols, Brooke Teague, Tate Gonzalez, Isaak Perry and Jack Schlechte, and seniors Izzy D’Angelo-Jones, Elizabeth Kundert, Lilly Mertz, Haven Newton, Ava Valleroy, Madison Wheelock, Hayden Boyd, Gavin Buesking, Hayden Cooper, Wyatt Harris, Kayden Kohlberg and Jacob Lane.

“All of the court will be honored during the parade on Thursday and during the assemblies at school on Friday,” Adkins said.

This year’s homecoming theme is “A Night in Santorini.”

“We transformed the school with images from the Greek Island,” Adkins said.

The Student Council is holding a variety of spirit week activities tied to the Greek theme this week, and the homecoming festivities will finish with the school’s annual powder-puff girls flag football game at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, in Seckman’s football stadium. The game pits junior girls against senior girls and features a halftime performance by the senior ManSwag dance team.

Admission for the game is $2 or a donation of two nonperishable food items.

“All monetary proceeds from this event will go to a charitable cause yet to be determined that is voted upon by Student Council members,” Adkins said. “The non-perishable food items will be donated to Sister Christine’s Food Pantry in Imperial.”
