PLYMOUTH, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) – The remains of a young Minke whale that washed up on the shore in Plymouth are causing a horrible smell for residents.
The fifteen-foot long carcass has been baking in the sun for weeks at a private beach at Ocean Aire Estates. At low tide the stench is unbearable according to neighbor, Rosemary Bradley.
“You would multiple dead rotting fish, garbage, waste water, sewage,” she said. “It’s wafting a mile up the road.”

The town will not remove the carcass because the beach is private, leaving the Homeowner’s Association to figure it out in their own.
The Association’s president, Mike Kelly, knows a company that can transport the remains to the Bourne landfill, but is waiting on a contractor with the proper equipment to physically move the whale.
“It’s not been easy and I’ve had a couple contractors look at it, but they’re just not interested,” he said. “It’s just going to be messy.”
