STATEN ISLAND, NY — The Next Level Sports Youth Flag Football League opened its campaign this weekend with action across Staten Island.
On Sunday, Advance photographer Derek Alvez visited Staten Island Little League in Dongan Hills to capture some North Division games.
The spring schedule paired the third-fourth grade North Division Packers (42) against the Jets (6); and Wolverines (6) against the Vipers (6) on the Buddy Cusak and Monte Parish field.
In other North Division play, contested on the Hy Turkin field, the Patriots topped the Cardinals, 25-6, and the Wolfpack and Ravens tied 6-6.

Football, honing skills and having fun was priority on a perfect spring day for the future stars, however, the pandemic remains a serious concern for all, including the league.
The Next Level Sports COVID-19 guidelines addressed the following: General Area – spectators and participants. Field Area – players, coaches and referees. Game Protocol. Equipment. Referees.

The eight-game regular season schedule, will be followed by playoffs and championship games, thus concluding play in May.
