Patch Star Student Athlete: Jack, Of Moorestown

MOORESTOWN, NJ — We all know student athletes who also bring their A-game to other parts of their lives.

Here at Patch, we’ve launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We’re working to let all your neighbors know the individual stories behind the leaderboard.

This submission comes from Dee, who nominated her son Jack of Moorestown.

Why do you believe the star student athlete should be recognized?

Jack is a three year Varsity athlete for both sports and has been recognized as captain this year for both sports. In addition, he has been selected by the coaches of both sports to represent the teams at the Moorestown Student Athletic Advisory Council. Last year as a junior he won the Gordon Masters Football Club Unsung Hero Award and received the Moorestown High School Coach’s Award for leadership. He takes all advanced classes and maintains a high GPA. He made the Dean’s List at Rowan University for his GPA at the dual enrolled classes he takes. He also works part-time for the Moorestown Youth Flag Football Program. He displays exemplary leadership skills on and off the field while maintaining a high GPA with a challenging course load.

What’s one thing you want everyone to know about the star student athlete?

Jack has a big heart. He is the first kid to comfort the kid who isn’t playing well. When our starting QB went down with one minute left in a tight game, his first instinct was to go calm down the freshman back up QB while he warmed up. When the coach benched starters during one game, instead of whining he was the only player who went to his back up player with advice how to read the opposing defense. He is calm, level-headed, and always positive.

Keep up the great work, Jack!
