Now we’d like to ask a few questions about your reasons for running and your general views on politics and government. First, why are you seeking this office?

I would like to see improvement in public safety and emergency services in town. I think we can do more to make Avon a safe place for families.

Please complete this statement: The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ___, and this is what I intend to do about it.

Crime. I want to work with the citizens of Avon, the police department and the town government to find solutions to an alarming rise in property crime here in Avon.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

I have worked in the criminal justice field for over 25 years. I understand the complicated legal system and have experience working within it. I have held public office here in Avon. In these positions, I have worked with planning and zoning issues for the town and citizens’ benefit. Having just retired as Captain from the Avon Volunteer Fire Department, I understand emergency services, public funding and public safety.

If you are challenging an incumbent, in what way has the current officeholder failed the community?

Property crime is rising and everyone I speak with wants to know why and what can we do.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?

EMS shortfalls, government transparency and a lack of disabled accessibility throughout town, public buildings and schools.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

I have worked with state legislators and interested parties crafting laws and regulations pertaining to specific areas of the criminal justice system for nearly 20 years. This experience has taught me how to build relationships and work across the aisle to accomplish important agenda items.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?

Family is your most valuable asset. Cherish those who love you.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I coached Little league baseball and youth flag football for 12 years here in Avon. I served on the Avon Little League board for 2 years. I was President of the Bail Association of Connecticut for 8 years. I have been a small businesses owner since 1990. I believe in fiscal responsibility balanced with social awareness.
