The Coach Sarna NFL Flag Football League will be holding the NFL Youth Flag Football Championships at Solano College on Saturday.
Games start at 9 a.m. and continue until 5 p.m. This is a free event to the public. The Coach Sarna League has over 600 youth athletes from Solano, Napa and Contra Costa Counties.
The Coach Sarna League is a 501(c)(3) public non-profit in Vallejo and is named in honor of longtime local coach and athletic director, Ed “Coach” Sarna.
The Coach Sarna League currently has over 600 youth participating in the league and has been named in THE TOP 5 New Leagues in the Country by the NFL.
Boys Basketball
De La Salle 74, Vallejo 34
The Vallejo High boys basketball team lost its season opener on the road on Thursday, 74-34.
Vallejo fell behind 43-17 at the half and could never get back into the game.
Girls Basketball
Richmond 47, Vallejo 45
The Vallejo High girls basketball team lost to Richmond 47-45 on Thursday night.
The Redhawks (1-3) were led in the loss by Jazmine Cardwell, who had 21 points and nine rebounds. Veekie Head had nine points and eight rebounds, while K’mirah Thornton had seven points and four rebounds.
Vallejo’s next game is Tuesday at Albany.
Girls Soccer
Albany 13, Vallejo 0
The Vallejo High girls soccer team lost its season opener 13-0 to Albany on Thursday.
Gemma Jusseaume had a hat trick for Albany, while Caroline Alanis and Naomi Cook each had two goals.
Vallejo’s next game is Thursday at Kennedy.
Casa Grande 6, American Canyon 0
The American Canyon girls soccer team lost to Casa Grande 6-0 on Thursday.
Bailey Guerrero and Ashley Melton each had two goals for Casa Grande.
The Wolves fell to 0-2 with the loss.
Boys Soccer
Sonoma Valley 2, American Canyon 1
The American Canyon boys soccer team lost to Sonoma Valley 2-1 on Tuesday.
The Wolves had a 1-0 lead at the half, but couldn’t hold on as they fell to 2-2-1 on the year.
American Canyon’s next match is Monday at home against Campolindo.
