YUMA, Ariz., (KYMA, KECY) – Several local teams are making waves regionally and nationally over the summer – coming from the diamond and flag football field.
The Bad Rabbits – out of Calexico – rose to the top of youth flag football over the weekend at the 12U level by taking home the hardware in the USA Flag Football National Tournament. The team won all six games in Charlotte, North Carolina to claim a national title crown.
Meanwhile, the 16U Senior Little League All-Star baseball team from Yuma continued its incredible run on Wednesday evening with a 4-1 win to advance to the Southern California State Final. Cibola’s Rodrigo Orozco Araiza tossed a complete game en route to the semifinal win.
Plus, Arizona Western College women’s head basketball coach, Patrick Cunningham, hangs it up after 24-years at the helm. He acts as the only head coach in program history that erected in 1999 – winning over 500 total games. He sits down and talks about his journey on the sideline in Yuma.
