After a long spring and summer under lockdown, a group of seventh-grade boys from Merrick Avenue Middle School joined Levittown-Seaford-Wantagh Sports’ flag football league to stay active during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The students were excited to spend some time together after the long months of isolation, but little did they know this would be the year they won it all. Under the management of head coach Jarred Barretti and assistant coach Tim Lynch, the Alabama Crimson Tide played their hearts out to beat the Georgia Bulldogs 28-7 in LSW’s Super Bowl.
The league presented each player with a championship sweatshirt, which provided a sweet ending to an otherwise bitter year.
