After going 2-3 over the last week, the Red Sox sit in third place in the East Division with a 21-29 record. Regina is four games up on fourth-place Swift Current and 4.5 games back of second-place Medicine Hat. The Moose Jaw Miller Express are holding down first place. The top four teams in each division make the playoffs.
After two away games early in the week, the Red Sox will host the Sylvan Lake Gulls on Wednesday and Thursday at Currie Field, before wrapping up the regular season in Medicine Hat with games on Friday and Saturday.
Track and Field Nationals
At the Canadian Track and Field Championships in Langley, B.C., three University of Regina athletes came home with medals.

Jonathan Podbielski won gold in the male U20 800-metre and 1,500-metre races, while Storm Zablocki raced to gold in the male U20 100-metre dash with a time of 10.35 seconds. Shelaine Pritchard won the female under-20 heptathlon.
Lawn Bowling National Youth Championships
Saskatoon’s Lorrand Wong won silver in the boys’ under-18 division while Kos and her partner Kiera Schaelow finished fourth in pairs.
Regina Flag Football Award
The Regina Youth Flag Football League was recently named the NFL Flag League of the Year at the NFL Flag Summit in Atlanta, which is awarded to the top league in all of Canada and the United States.

League convenor Mike Thomas was on hand to accept the award for the league, which provides opportunities to play for around 5,000 athletes each year.
U16 Flag Football Nationals
The Under-16 National Flag Football Championships got underway on Monday in Nova Scotia with two Saskatchewan teams competing (Sask Boys White and Sask Girls Green).
U18 Women’s Tackle Football
At the U18 Women’s National Tackle Championship, Team Saskatchewan finished in fourth place after losing to Ontario Red 24-16 in the bronze medal game.
Ella Schenher was named the offensive player of the game for Saskatchewan, while Rayna James was named the top defensive player in the match.

Shaw, who is a 2020 Paralympic Games bronze medalist, will be competing in the Para-cycling road and Para-cycling track events.
Hockey Canada
Regina’s Luke Moroz, Wilcox’s Joby Baumuller and Whitewood’s Reese Hamilton were recognized by Hockey Canada as potential players for the 2023 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.
The trip participated in Hockey Canada’s Program of Excellence summer meetings ahead of the rosters being named later this year.
Moose Jaw Warriors teammates Denton Mateychuk, Brayden Yager and Jagger Firkus were among the Canadians to participate in the summer meetings for the U20 team ahead the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championship in Sweden.
Rugby results
The Regina Rage captured the senior female provincial rugby championship after defeating the Regina Ravens 66-19 in the final on the weekend. The Saskatoon Wild Oats Women beat the Saskatoon Kirin 52-5 in the consolation game.

The men’s season is still going with interlocking play, as the the Regina Rogues beat the Saskatoon Badgers 44-25 while the Regina Highlanders topped the Saskatoon Gophers 57-14. The Regina Condors lost to the Saskatoon Krems 71-17, while the Campion Grads were blanked by the Saskatoon Wild Oats 20-0.
Skate Canada NextGen
Last year, the duo competed at the 2023 World Junior Figure Skating Championships after a fourth-place finish at nationals. They also brought home gold at the Skate Canada Challenge event in Winnipeg and the Ice Challenge event in Austria, to go along with a bronze at the Junior Grand Prix.

World Aquatics Championships
It was the best finish for the women since they finished fourth in 2017, while it was the best performance for the men since ninth-place result in 2015.
Canadian Little League Championships
Games get underway on Tuesday, with North Regina taking on the British Columbia representative. The opening ceremonies are set for 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
The semifinals are set for Aug. 9 with the championship game set for Aug 10.
