It’s time to think about the fall. Well, fall sports anyway. Some Lee County cities will be offering football, softball, soccer and even kickball programs so now and in coming weeks is the time to get the kids registered for them. Some municipalities will also have adult sports programs.
BALDWYN Park Director Shane Raines said a youth flag football league will play in the fall; registration for 6 to 12-year-old kids begins August 4 and closes August 27. The cost is $45 per player. Raines said he is seeking coaches, also. The August registration period is also for a women’s softball league that runs $45 per player. NETTLETON Nettleton Park and Rec flag football (ages 5-12) and soccer (ages 3-12) registration is open at city hall – (662) 963-2605. Deadline is July 30. Mini Cheer Squad that will cheer during park and rec football games registration will be open at a future date. Football costs $40 per player and includes a jersey; soccer is $50 per player and includes a uniform.
SALTILLO Flag and tackle football and soccer registration is open until July 16. Flag football is for ages 6-11 and costs $45 per player. Tackle football is ages 9-12 and costs $60 per player. Soccer is for age Under 6 (4-5 years old) to Under 12 (10-11 years old) and costs $45 per player. The soccer teams, except for the Under 6, will play in both the fall and spring. Saltillo Park and Recreation is also inaugurating an adult kickball league for “an upcoming season of lots of fun and entertainment.” If you have any questions, please call (662) 869-5668 or email email@example.com. TUPELO Open registration for flag football and soccer closed June 8. However, interested players can be placed on a wait list to be called up as more coaches volunteer to take teams. Tupelo offers a large number of athletic opportunities for kids through adults. The best bet is to visit the department’s website at tupeloparksandrec.org to ascertain which opportunities are available.
