The local area schools showcased that they have plenty of girls flag football talent in the sport’s first season sanctioned by CIF this fall.
That fact was proven by the sport’s first-ever All-Channel League teams, as local athletes took home three of four individual awards and were well-represented on the teams themselves.
Dos Pueblos, which ended the season with the city’s best record, had quarterback Gianna Nichols earn the league’s MVP honor while Maddy Jones took home Defensive Player of the Year.
Meanwhile, city champion Santa Barbara High’s quarterback Dayzia Mendoza was named the Channel League Offensive Player of the Year.
As for the All-League squads, all three local schools had multiple players on the first team, second team and honorable mention list.
