Georgia State’s Center Parc Stadium will be the center of attention for Georgia high school football this weekend.
For the third year in a row, the stadium that was built in 1996 for the Summer Olympics and then became the home of Major League Baseball’s Atlanta Braves (Turner Field), is the site of the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) state championships.
The championships will kick-off Thursday afternoon with the playing of the three girls’ flag football championships. Flag football became a sanctioned sport in 2020 after when the Atlanta Falcons and the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation made a grant to grow the sport.
