FCA Sports is a new pillar of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes which opens the door into youth sports leagues. The North Central Arkansas FCA staff jumped on the opportunity to be the first league in Arkansas by debuting a brand new flag football league this fall for first through fifth graders.
FCA Sports – Searcy is run by the League Director, Holten Watson, and with huge help from the FCA area supervisor, Mike McCain. The main mission of this new league is to reach youth athletes and their families for Christ while letting them learn the fundamentals and having fun in the process.
“It has been an absolute blessing as we are now halfway through the inaugural season of FCA Sports Flag Football here in Searcy and getting to serve these kids and our community,” league director Holten Watson said. “Mike McCain and I have put a lot of effort into making sure these kids have a blast and learn about Christ. However, I can’t go without saying thank you to everyone that makes it possible. A huge thank you to our players, families, coaches, my fiance and my grandparents who hold down the concession stand, Mike Parsons with Searcy Parks and Recreation for partnering with us, and so many more volunteers.
“We had 65 total players participate in our inaugural season. We exceeded our expectations for this year. However, our goal is to double it for the 2024 season next Fall. We are even looking into expanding the age ranges next season, and we do everything we can to avoid schedule conflicts with other Fall sports so families don’t have too much on their plates. We can’t wait to see this league grow and we want to encourage all families in the community to join us for a great time of faith, fellowship, and flag football.”
