For the second time in the last week it appears that distracted, inattentive driving is what caused a car accident on Route 37 near Colonial Drive in Manchester Township.
On Tuesday, the driver of a Ford 550 commercial truck wasn’t paying attention when he struck the back of a car at the red light at that intersection sending a Honda spinning into the roadway.
The injuries in this crash were minor.
On Saturday morning, around 8:30 am, Manchester Police said that the driver of a 2018 Chevrolet Colorado was partially ejected from her vehicle — from not wearing a seatbelt — and after hitting a 2007 Mercury Grand Marquis which was stopped at a red light.
The driver of the Chevy, 30-year old Jayna Deshay of Browns Mills, was injured in the crash from the partial ejection included and was brought to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune by the Manchester Division of Emergency Service EMT’s for treatment and evaluation.
Deshay is currently listed in stable condition.
The driver of the Mercury, 38-year-old Jaimie Hom, of Toms River was also brought to Jersey Shore University Medical for the treatment and evaluation of non-life-threatening injuries as well.
Manchester Police said that the investigation into the crash is ongoing, but right now they believe inattentive driving is the likely the primary contributing factor.
