CLYMER, N.Y. — During a regular business meeting on Feb. 15, members of the Clymer Central School Board approved a series of personnel and action items, including the hire of a school social worker, 2023 spring coaches and a joint flag football agreement with Sherman and Panama central schools.
Kiaya Bensink was approved as assistant modified boys basketball coach with a stipend of $2,000.
Elizabeth Harrison was added to the non-certified substitute list. Non-certified subs at CCS earn $14.20 per hour.
Nichole Damcott was approved as school social worker for a four-year probationary period starting on Feb. 16, 2023, and ending on Feb. 15, 2027. Her salary for 2022-23 will be $41,700 (step 1).
The following spring coaches were also appointed:
• Dan White — varsity baseball, $3,935
• Bob Newton — jayvee baseball, $3,500
• Chris Wakefield — modified baseball, $2,800
• Dave Bodamer — varsity softball, $3,935
• Breanna Summers — jayvee softball, $3,500
• Madalyn Bowen — modified softball, $2,800
• Irv King — track, $3,935
• Ray Shrout — track, $3,935
Also approved were updated policies on AEDs in Public School Facilities, Budget Planning and Development, School District Budget Hearing and Budget Adoption.

A 2023-24 instructional calendar and monthly internal claims audit report were also approved.
Board members approved a joint Clymer-Sherman-Panama combined girls flag football team agreement for the 2023-24 school year. Superintendent Beth Olson said the district continues to look for more athletic opportunities for students.
Additionally, the district is accepting nominating petitions for an open board seat for a five-year term expiring on June 30, 2028. The seat is currently held by Dave Maleski.
Petitions are available in the district office at CCS. A signature is required upon pickup.
Nominating petitions must be filed with Stephanie Leek, district clerk, no later than April 17 at 5 p.m.
The next school board meeting is scheduled for March 8 at 6 p.m.
