It’s marathon weekend. Here are some things to do – but be aware of multiple street closings.
Go for a run
The Dick’s Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon, half marathon and relay race returns in person on Sunday. There will be several race-related events throughout Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
More than 40,000 people are expected to participate in the events that encompass several areas of the city.
Saturday is a 5K race, the Kids Marathon and Toddler Trot. There is a pet run as well for the furry friends.
The marathon, half marathon and relay all start at 7 a.m. at Liberty Avenue and 10th Street, Downtown. (The half marathon includes a walking division this year. And there’s also a “back-half” marathon — running the end of the 26.2-mile course versus the beginning, starting in Shadyside.)
More than 300,000 spectators are expected to line the course.

History Uncorked
The 24th annual History Uncorked: Black & Gold Bash is 7:30 to 11 p.m. on Friday at the Senator John Heinz History Center in the Strip District. Geared toward young professionals, this year’s theme celebrates Pittsburgh.
There will be signature drinks, food stations, live music, a dance party hosted by DJ Bamboo, a silent auction, a photo booth, a Pittsburgh cookie table, a snack bar and a scavenger hunt.
Guests are invited to wear black and gold cocktail attire.
Proceeds benefit the educational programs and exhibitions of the History Center and its family of museums.
Attendees must be at least 21 years of age. Proof of covid-19 vaccination and valid identification are required.
Tickets are $65 in advance, $80 at the door.

Block party
The annual August Wilson Celebration Block Party, presented by Dollar Bank, is 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday on Bedford Avenue and surrounding streets in the Hill District.
The first one was held in 2015. The free event takes place around the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright’s birthday: Wilson would have turned 77 this past Wednesday.
The event will feature more than 125 vendors, food trucks and performances. It is one of several happenings over the course of the next year to celebrate Wilson’s legacy. The highlight will be the unveiling of his refurbished childhood home. Guests can purchase a brick starting at $100 to support the Legacy Brick Campaign to help restore Wilson’s childhood home at 1727 Bedford Ave., which will be transformed into an arts center and offer programming, workshops and panel discussions.

Immersive Shevchenko
“Immersive Shevchenko: Soul of Ukraine,” a exhibition that benefits relief efforts in Ukraine, will have two showings on Saturday, at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. The hour-long shows are held at Lighthouse ArtSpace Pittsburgh, 720 E. Lacock St. on the North Side — the venue hosting “Immersive Frida Kahlo” and previously “Immersive Van Gogh.”
The exhibit displays the works by Ukrainian artist Taras Shevchenko (1814-61). Also a poet, writer and political activist, Shevchenko was known for expressing themes of Ukrainian oppression by the Russian government in his art.
Amid the war in Ukraine, workers at the National Museum of Taras Shevchenko created artwork in the exact same containers used to shield them from invading Nazi forces in 1941.
Tickets start at $30 and include admission to the Kahlo exhibition.
Proceeds benefit the Red Cross Humanitarian Crisis Appeal Fund to Benefit Ukraine and the National Bank of Ukraine Fund.
Buyers may select which charity to allocate the contribution.

Draft Party
The Steelers are hosting an NFL draft party from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday at Heinz Field on the North Shore.
There will be question and answer sessions with current and former players Matt Spaeth, Mel Blount, Zach Gentry, Christian Kuntz, Kevin Rader, Shaun Suisham and Alan Faneca.
There won’t be any autograph availability because of covid safety precautions.
Fans will have access to the team’s locker room. Guests can take photos with the six Vince Lombardi trophies and try to kick a field goal or throw a pass. There will be face painting and a gaming zone. Youth flag football teams will compete throughout the afternoon.
The Pittsburgh Steeline will perform.
Concession stands will be open.
