Washington Commanders players, coaches and team leaders, sports medicine professionals and youth players convened May 20 in Ashburn for the Commanders first Flag Football Clinic presented by OrthoVirginia.
The event — held in partnership with RCX Sports and the Loudoun County NFL FLAG Football League — was conducted at the newly named OrthoVirginia Training Center at Commanders Park.
“I’m thrilled that the Commanders community was able to join forces with the regon’s top orthopedic professionals to provide a fun and educational day for young players here at the OrthoVirginia Training Center at Commanders Park,” Washington Commanders Team President Jason Wright said..
More than 200 youth flag football players participated in skills and drills training. In addition, OrthoVirginia professionals provided demonstrations on topics including injury prevention and proper warm-up techniques.
“Whether you are playing in the NFL or in a youth flag football league, it’s crucial that athletes learn how to prevent injuries and stay healthy,” OrthoVirginia Chief Executive Officer Dr. David Jevsevar said. “OrthoVirginia and the Washington Commanders share a commitment to making an impact in the community.”
