Playing flag football is like breathing air for Coach Kevin Mujica and Miami Palmetto High School senior Isabella Sosa.
Sosa is so good that she was one of 20 girls chosen to play the first U.S. Army Bowl game on Dec. 18, where she will showcase her talents in the Girls Flag Football Tournament. The U.S. Army Bowl is being held in Frisco, TX, where the Dallas Cowboys play.
“Making the first female U.S. Army Bowl game is truly life changing and I hope to inspire many other young girls,” Sosa said. “This is the start of something special and I get to be a part of it.”
Mujica is not only the girls flag football coach at Palmetto, but he is also a coach for South Florida Elite, a traveling flag football program out of Doral that also benefits from Sosa’s talents.
“Isabella Sosa being selected for the first ever U.S. Army Bowl is a step forward to where this sport is going,” Coach Mujica said. “Her hard work and dedication speaks for itself.”
In January 2024, Mujica and Sosa also will travel to Orlando to compete in the NFL FLAG Championships at NFL Pro Bowl Games.
