Classic MotoFest at DIS set for Jan. 7-9

The American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association’s Classic MotoFest at Daytona International Speedway will start the 2022 motorcycle racing season on Jan. 7-9.

Off-Road MX, Dirt Track and a full slate of Road Racing will be featured.

The event, which is making its first appearance at the World Center of Racing since 2015, will include classic and modern motorcycle road racing. For the first time, modern and vintage sidecars will race on Daytona’s famed, 31-degree high banks.

AHRMA will honor the Daytona Superbike legacy by presenting Vintage Superbike Heavyweight as its featured Vintage Cup class. The first installment of the 2022 Vintage Cup Heavyweight Superbike series will be Jan. 8.

In addition to this paved action there will be Vintage and Post-Vintage MX on a nearby 135-acre grassy and wooded site (the track’s Lot 7). Also featured will be night-time dirt track action on Daytona’s championship quarter-mile “flat track” outside the west end of the speedway.

A three-day pass is $60 and is available at daytonainernationalspeedway.com. Single day admission will be available at the gate.

Fans can get free look at NASCAR Next Gen Cars

Fans can visit Daytona International Speedway Tuesday, Jan. 11, to get a free first look at the machines that will bring the stock car look back to NASCAR.

The World Center of Racing will be open to fans during the first day of what will be a two-day test session (Jan. 11-12) for the NASCAR Cup Series Next Gen cars on Daytona’s 31-degree banking.

Fans will be able witness the action from noon to 8 p.m. in select frontstretch seating as well as the infield UNOH Fanzone.

Parking and admission are free. For frontstretch seating, fans will park in the midway (accessible from Turn 1 Drive) and enter the venue at the Axalta Injector. For those going to the UNOH Fanzone, they will enter at Gate 40 off of Williamson Boulevard and follow signage to the infield parking areas and entrance to the UNOH Fanzone. Guests can pre-register to save time at the gates by visiting daytonainternationalspeedway.com/next-gen-test/.

Vendors needed

The Halifax Sport Fishing Club is looking for vendors for its second annual Fishing Expo and Swap Meet Saturday, Jan.29.

The meet will begin at 9 a.m. and run until 4 p.m. at the HSFC clubhouse at 3431 S. Ridgewood Ave., Port Orange.

New and used fishing, diving, boating equipment and nautical related items will be offered for sale by various vendors and private individuals.

A vendor table is $25 per table and a tent vendor is $50.

There will be guest speakers throughout the day, and lunch will be available.

Fishing seminars resume

The Halifax Sport Fishing Club’s monthly seminars will resume Jan. 20, with a cooking seminar.

Different recipes and fileting with be presented.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. There will be a brief business meeting at 7 p.m. The seminar will start at 7:30 p.m. at 3431 S. Ridgewood Ave., Port Orange.

Deltona Parks & Recreation has added new recreation options for families.

•Youth Baseball League will play February and March. Registration deadline is Jan. 14. The cost is $50 per child for ages 3 to 8 (divided into T-ball for 3 to 4-year-olds and coach-pitch for 5 to 8-year-olds). At Wes Crile Park, 1537 Norbert Terrace. Coaches needed.

A 50 and older Men`s Senior Softball League is now forming for games starting in January.
