Mia Corazzini had nine catches for 130 yards and a touchdown as Albany defeated Saratoga Springs 21-6 in the Section 2 Division I tournament quarterfinals. Azera Gates had touchdowns and 87 yards receiving, and Narai Danzy threw for for 175 yards and two touchdowns and two extra points. Jazlyn Gorousingh had eight flags pulls, two sacks and an interception.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 15
Eighth-seeded Saratoga Springs defeated ninth-seeded Colonie 25-12 in the inaugural Section 2 Girls’ Flag Football Tournament. Mia Kazine threw for two touchdowns and ran in a conversion. Olivia Goodman caught two touchdown passes, and Keegan Reinhardt ran for two scores. Saratoga Springs will play top-seeded Albany on Friday.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 8
Janae Byrams scored on a 22-yard touchdown run, and Jordan Johnson scored from five yards out as Albany defeated Troy 14-0 in the Suburban Council.
Jah’Niah George had seven flags and two sacks on the defensive end for the Falcons.
FRIDAY, MAY 3
Azera Gates scored three touchdowns, had 105 receiving yards and returned an interception 62 yards for a TD in Albany’s 33-25 win over Niskayuna. Jah’Niah George also had a pick-six for the Falcons covering 55 yards, and Elana Temple had 87 rushing yards and a touchdown jaunt.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 1
Albany defeated Saratoga Springs 40-6. Iyana Weedon had two interceptions for the Falcons, including a 27-yard one for a touchdown. Ava Muhammed threw for 231 yards and three touchdowns. Nevaeh Pryall-Best added a 65-yard kickoff return for a score.
Shenendehowa beat Niskayuna 38-21, and Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake topped Bethlehem 50-6.
THURSDAY, APRIL 25
Albany defeated Shenendehowa 20-13 in Suburban Council action. Albany was led by Azera Gates, who had a touchdown, converted an extra point and had two interceptions. She tallied 105 receiving yards and grabbed 12 flags on defense. Mia Corazzini and Janae Byrams each scored for Albany as well.
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 24
Saratoga Springs defeated Albany Leadership 41-0 in a Suburban Council contest that was called after 17 minutes of play. Blue Streak quarterback Annalyn Scelzi ran for two touchdowns and threw for two touchdowns, including a 35-yarder to Charlotte Panetta. Keegan Reinhart had a 60-yard touchdown run, and Ellianna Callender had a 35-yard punt return. Mei Emika reeled in a touchdown reception for Saratoga Springs final score of the game.
MONDAY, APRIL 22
Saratoga Springs eased to a 33-0 Suburban Council win over Schenectady on Monday, as Lucia DeVito had two rushing touchdowns and a passing touchdown. Keegan Reinhart ran for 94 yards on five carries, scoring two touchdowns, and Mei Emeka added 31 yards on two attempts. Defensively, Molly Fitch had two interceptions for the Blue Streaks, and Analynne Scelzi had one.
SATURDAY, APRIL 20
Schenectady earned its first win with a 20-6 victory over Albany Leadership. Michaela Moore scored on a five-yard run, threw a 10-yard scoring pass to Takai Gibson and also added a two-point conversion run to lead the Patriots. Leo McCormack added a 40-yard pass to Takoda McGinnis in the win. Schenectady’s defense was led by Jaden Jones, Briana Fernandez and Marina Smith’s game-ending interception.
FRIDAY, APRIL 19
Narai Danzy threw for four touchdowns and 168 yards, and Elana Temple had two interceptions, two sacks and 11 defensive stops in Albany’s 32-19 win over Columbia. Temple returned one of her picks for a touchdown, and Janae Byrams scored two touchdowns and had 92 receiving yards for the Falcons.
Shaker posted a 19-6 win at Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake.
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 17
Narai Danzy passed for 335 yards and two touchdowns as part of Albany’s 60-6 win over Albany Leadership Academy. Mia Corazzini scored three touchdowns and had 110 receiving yards for the Falcons.
MONDAY, APRIL 15
Columbia topped Saratoga Springs 21-14. Lucia Devito threw for both touchdowns for Saratoga, one to Olivia Mancini and the other to Charlotte Panneta.
FRIDAY, APRIL 12
Troy defeated Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake 27-12.
Taylor Lawrence threw a touchdown pass and ran for another as Columbia beat Schenectady 34-0. Mati Roy had a touchdown reception and a one-point extra point conversion.
THURSDAY, APRIL 11
Columbia outscored Shenendehowa 14-0 in the second half for a 26-12 victory. Bella Satalino passed for two touchdowns for the Blue Devils, Anna Nassivera threw for a touchdown and ran for one, Alivia Landy caught two touchdown passes and Mati Roy caught a touchdown pass and made two extra-point conversions.
On defense for Columbia, Elizabeth Daoust had four tackles and a sack, and Maggie Pollard made three tackles.
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 10
Shaker outscored Saratoga Springs 20-6 in the second half for a 33-19 victory.
Eleanor Keough ran for three touchdowns and passed for two for the Blue Bison, including a 42-yard TD run 1:56 into the second half.
Lucia DeVito answered with a five-yard TD run for Saratoga Springs, but Shaker kept the Blue Streaks off the scoreboard the rest of the way.
Azera Gates ran for 160 yards, totaled 120 receiving yards and scored two touchdowns as Albany High rolled past Bethlehem 44-2.
Quarterback Narai Danzy passed for 250 yards and four touchdowns and ran for 33 yards and one touchdown for the Falcons, and Bryasia Nixon had six flags and two sacks.
