GRIFFIN — Spalding County Leisure Services will hold registration for the upcoming youth flag and youth tackle football seasons, beginning Saturday, May 14, and ending Saturday, June 11. Seasons for both leagues will begin on Saturday, Sept. 10.
Spalding County youth flag football is for boys and girls ages 4-5, and cost per player is $60, which includes a county-branded dri-fit team shirt with shorts and a sling bag. Flag football players will compete in away games against other agencies.
Youth tackle football is for boys and girls ages 6-12, and cost per player is $185, which includes a uniform and $40 refundable equipment deposit.
“Each participant will develop fundamental skills, leadership and attributes such as teamwork, integrity and much more,” Program Supervisor Robby Milner said, “and pre-season summer training and conditioning will be provided for tackle football players.”
Home games for both youth flag and youth tackle football will be played at Volunteer Park in Griffin, and volunteer coaches are needed for both leagues. All interested in coaching must complete a coaching application and pass the background check screening.
Register online at spaldingcounty.com or in-person at the Leisure Services Administration Office, which is open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
