Post Courier Coral Sea signs agreement to support PNG AFFL

Coral Sea Hotel has signed an agreement to support the PNG American Flag Football League as platinum sponsors.

Coral Sea Hotels Group general manager Peter Jensen said the sponsorship will go towards supporting participating team’s uniforms, branding and the administration needs.

“We have being supporting sports in the country for years because we see sport plays an important part in society.

“If we can contribute meaningfully through the provision of supporting the sport, then we are confident that players and the code will be in the best position to do PNG proud.”

Jensen said the sponsors is for the year 2023 and is keen on continuing the partnership depending on positive assessment.

Founder and president of America Flag Football League Timothy Jim thank Coral Sea for their support to the sport.

Jim said this is a milestone achievement especially for a renowned hotel company in the country to come and support the code that is still in its infant stages.

“We can now exclusively say that Coral Sea Hotel is now our hospitality partners,” Jim said.

The support will definitely boost the players as well as the respective competitions in Lae and Port Moresby.

“Apart from the sponsorship, Jim spoke highly of the sport that is turning heads with the interest out there.

Meanwhile, the Federation is in talks to host several events in the country with the aim to build the code locally.

“We’re looking forward to an exciting year for the federation,”Jim said.

“We have our football outreach and camp up in Chimbu and a flag football tournament in Lae next month.

“We will have another mid-year tournament with the inclusion of women’s teams as well. This is in preparation for the Malaysia championships.

“We’re aiming for the Asia-Oceania Championship in November.”

This will be PNG’s first meet against countries like Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong, China, Korea and Japan.

Jim said preparations had already started. He said the Port Moresby flag football league would kick off season four with six teams set to compete.

“There will be six teams participating in the PMFFL season three,” he said.

“Compared to the past two seasons the game has improved tremendously.
