STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Next Level Sports Youth Flag Football League North division was in full swing Sunday, with action taking place at the Corporal Thompson Park, in West Brighton.
The league started a week later than its original schedule in September due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however, there was no evidence of a lack of enthusiasm on the gridirons.
“The league has been doing fine during the pandemic,” league director Steve Mirasola said. “We have dealt with whatever situations COVID-wise that has occurred, and have taken any precautions needed to ensure the league keep running on all cylinders.”
The players honed their skills on field areas measured 25 yards x 55 yards, while the clock ran for a pair of 25-minute halves with a final one-minute warning.
Later this month, the playoffs will kick off on Saturday the 14th and Sunday the 15th; and Dec. 5-6 championship titles will be on the line.
