Oxbridge Academy football to return in 2022

It was one of the area’s top football programs when it was shut down in 2018 due to what the school said was a lack of participation and safety concerns, but now the Oxbridge Academy for football program is set to make a return. He believes this decision will help the entire school as a whole. “It’s the right time,” Ross said. “It’s been in discussions and then COVID came on and we just felt like now is the time to do it. (It) gives us plenty of opportunity for next school year and really start from the ground up.”Oxbridge Head of School Ralph Maurer added, “When we began planning for our 10-year anniversary and identified ways to build on our strong foundation, adding a middle school and bringing back our football program were a big part of the conversation. Now we will have both our middle school opened this year with grade seven and eight and football begins next fall.” The athletic program also includes baseball, basketball, cross-country, equestrian, golf, lacrosse, sailing, soccer, softball, swimming, track & field, tennis, girls’ volleyball and girls’ flag football.The school’s girls’ soccer team won a state championship in 2017 and the girls’ basketball team won back-to-back state championships in 2018 and 2019.
