Orestimba High Schools girls flag football team participated in their first Div. 2 CIF Sac-Joaquin flag football playoff appearance against Christian Brothers High School. This was the Warrior’s first year of girls’ flag football, and it was a milestone achievement to reach the playoffs. Orestimba would fall to the Falcons 6-44 on Tuesday, Oct. 24 They ended their season with a record of 8-9 and 4-3 league record, fourth in league.
“I told these girls since day one, we are going to make playoffs and we did,” said assistant coach Louie Dominguez.
The girls had faced tough competition early in the season. It led them to make improvements during regular season. Head coach John Labno did this intentionally with their season schedule and it paid off. Orestimba is now looking forward to their official second season.
Five seniors will be graduating this year that include Mia Quevedo (1), Mya Garcia (3), Shakty Artea, Leslie Torres (15), Joselena Maduro (20), Jackie Mendez (24). Leaving them almost two more seasons to build round starting sophomore quarterback, Hailey Starr (3).
