To say that Welsh Valley Middle School fields and open spaces “pop” on Saturdays is an understatement.
Nearly 420 players participate between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m., with coaches, parents, guardians, grandparents, siblings, and a rare pooch in tow.
Local high school students, assisted by adult supervisors, referee the running clock during each half of 20 minutes.
Players recognizable by NFL team jerseys match up on eight designated fields throughout the 5-hours per Saturday league.
NFL FLAG is a fun and accessible non-contact program available for girls and boys ages 5-17.
