Police in Manchester Township continue investigating a motorcycle crash that claimed a man’s life on Saturday afternoon.
Through their preliminary investigation, police learned that 66-year-old Paul Brinkman and 57-year-old Michael Varcadipane were heading east on Pasadena Road near Mt. Mistery Road in Whiting in a staggered pattern when suddenly Varcadipane started pulling over to help a disabled motorist on the westbound shoulder.
As Varcadipane was trying to head over in his 2018 Indian Chieftain motorcycle, Brinkman couldn’t stop in time on his 2013 Harley Davidson Road King motorcycle and the two of them then collided which led to both men being ejected from their motorcycles.
Brinkman, who police said was not wearing a DOT-approved helmet, suffered significant injuries, and life-saving measures were attempted but he ended up passing away at the scene of the accident.
Varcadipane, who police said was wearing a helmet, suffered minor injuries to his right side but declined any further medical attention.
Manchester Police said the investigation into the fatal motorcycle crash is ongoing, but at this point, following too closely and rider inattention appear to be the primary contributing factors.
This stretch of Pasadena Road in the Whiting section of Manchester Township has been a well-traveled road for motorcycles for some time and sadly where some accidents have occurred as well.
There was a crash that occurred at the intersection of Pasadena Road and Lincoln Boulevard in 2015 where the rider suffered minor injuries.
