Dallas Mavericks CEO Cynt Marshall will become Dallas CASA’s board chairman starting Jan. 1.
The Preston Hollow resident is a longtime board member of the nonprofit, which trains volunteers to advocate for children who have to appear in court due to neglect or abuse.
CASA stands for “court appointed special advocates.” Professionals supervise the volunteers, who step in to relieve an overwhelmed child welfare system.
Last year, there were 1,527 volunteers, who served 3,374 children.
“The board brings not only their tremendous professional expertise and community connections but, most importantly, a deep and abiding passion for bettering the lives of Dallas children,” says Kathleen M. LaValle, Dallas CASA CEO and president. “Everything they do is with children in mind.”
