Logan County Board of DD Receives Highest Rating at Accreditation Review – Peak of Ohio

The Logan County Board of Developmental Disabilities (LCBDD) met on Thursday Evening.

The meeting began with Business Director, Jennifer Frail presenting a 5-year Fiscal Forecast for LCBDD.

LCBDD continues to budget conservatively and plan for the future and prides itself on responsible stewardship.

On October 25th and 26th, the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities conducted an accreditation review at LCBDD.

These reviews are completed on each county board of developmental disabilities at least once every three years to determine compliance with applicable statutes and rules.

This review includes a comprehensive review on-site at board facilities and an off-site review of records, documents, or other materials.

There are three possible outcomes of this review:  (1) exceeds minimum compliance and receives a three-year accreditation, (2) demonstrates minimum compliance and receives a one-year accreditation, or (3) is not in compliance and works with the department to develop a plan of correction, or a plan of action to come into compliance within 90 calendar days, during which the CBDD cannot enroll people with disabilities in home and community-based service waivers.

Upon completion of the accreditation review, the department conducts a conference with the Superintendent to discuss findings, compliance status, and any areas of noncompliance.

LCBDD is pleased to report that they received the highest rating, with a three-year accreditation received.

As reported in September, LCBDD had applied for a Keeping Families Together (KFT) grant through the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities.

This grant aims to help youth with complex needs and their families.

KFT funds can be used for supporting families, provider support, environmental needs, service access, local collaboration, county board staff support, or crisis or emergency options through 2025.  LCBDD is excited to report that some of the grant subsidy was awarded to Logan County.

LCBDD will receive $25,375 in Fiscal Year 2024 and $21,750 in Fiscal Year 2025.

The Logan County Board of DD held a staff In-Service on October 27th.

Christy Shell from Zeal Life Coaching provided interactive team-building training and Steven Bright from The Deaf Community Resource Center provided valuable information on working with the deaf population.

In other news, the Discovery Center held a Sensory Friendly Trick or Treat event on October 24th.

115 children and their families participated in the event.

On October 12th, Early Intervention (EI) held a Screening Event where many families attended to have their children assessed.

10 new families were connected with EI at this event.

The Community Recreation and Special Olympics Coordinators have been busy with many activities.

The Aktion Club dance was held on October 27th, which offered a fabulous night out for individuals served to dress up and socialize with one another.

The Logan County Braves Flag Football Team participated in the 2023 Ohio Special Olympics State flag football tournament at the Spire Institute in Geneva Ohio.

The Logan County Braves Athletes played hard under the leadership of Coach Mike Predmore, Coach Ryan Armstrong, and Coach Paul Patterson.

Logan County Special Olympics Coordinator, Rose Canter said, “It was a great time and I am proud of the Braves. They played their hearts out.”

Board meetings are typically held the first Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at 1973 St. Rt. 47 West, Bellefontaine.

The next meeting of the board will be held on December 7, 2023. For further information on services, contact us at 937-592-0015.
