Call it the bracket at the beach.
As college and pro football fans celebrate the start of the season, some middle schoolers were busy competing on the sand in their own bracket this weekend just south of the Hermosa Beach Pier.
Beach Cities Sports flag football worked with the LA Rams to host a tournament on Sunday, Sept. 3, where eight middle school teams — coed and all-girls divisions — ran plays in the sand for tournament bragging rights.

BCS has served nearly 15,000 flag footballers since its inception in 2008. And, earlier this year, it added an all-girls division.
On Sunday, the student-players and spectators got professional treatment that included plenty of Rams merchandise give-aways, Rams Cheerleaders, the mascot Rampage, a live DJ and the Rams House Hype Squad.
It was the third of a four-stop Rams On The 1 tour over Labor Day weekend, where the Rams van traveled along U.S. Route 1 to bring its mobile experience to the South Bay.
