A Greeley Recreation youth football team finished in the top three of its division at the recent Denver Broncos Flag Football tournament.
The Greeley Elite is a co-ed under-10 team. It won two of three games in the division, outscoring the competition 49-6. The team placed third out of 60 teams.
As a reward for its success, the Elite received tickets to a preseason Broncos game. It also took photos with Miles, the Denver mascot, received autographs and met the team cheerleaders.
U8 all the way to U17 teams participated in the tournament in Aurora. All teams were affiliated with a Boys and Girls Club, YMCA, Jewish Community Center, Police Athletic League or Parks and Recreation NFL FLAG program. The NFL sponsors the tournaments, which take place nationwide and are meant to expand access to the sport.
There were coed, recreation and girls divisions, with further age breakdowns for equitable play.
