With the arrival of COVID-19, many activities for children and adults were canceled due to health concerns and to keep the spread of the virus under control. The problem is that children need exercise, and recent restrictions on group sizes activities deemed non-essential have prevented a lot of activities, especially group or team activities.
Participation in youth sports has a positive impact on the emotional and physical wellbeing of youth in our community. The benefits of sports are numerous and can impact lives in profound ways. Involvement in youth team sports promotes health and wellbeing, builds confidence, and can help maintain mental health
The Jefferson County Recreation Park has some good options for organized sports. The youth flag football season is underway for youths ages 6-16. The league is open to boys and girls. Coaches have taught fundamentals and simple game plans to the players. Several local business and organizations have provided sponsorships for the flag football program…
