TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WBRC) – It’s homecoming week for the University of Alabama. The Crimson Tide take on the Arkansas Razorbacks Saturday, and this is an early game with an 11:00 a.m. kickoff.
Wednesday, students took part in a service project earlier off-campus, and on Wednesday night, there was a flag-football tournament if the weather held out.
Thursday is the trivia competition along with dance contests. On Friday, you have the lawn decorations and the bon fire Friday night and then lastly, bright and early Saturday morning, the homecoming parade starting at 7 a.m. A lot of you are wondering.. ‘Why so early?’.
“I know. It’s very, very early, so we didn’t decide that. The time of the game is 11 a.m. but we do require that the parade is before the game for risk management purposes. Then, it takes a really long time to line-up and get the whole parade going and have that parade end by the time the Walk Of Champions is occurring and our athletics get down University Boulevard, so unfortunately the parade does have to begin at 7 a.m.,” said UA Homecoming Committee Executive Director Mary Kate Grossman.
Mary Kate Grossman says the homecoming parade will start behind the baseball stadium, make its way up University Boulevard, and end at 21st Avenue and University Boulevard.
