CLOVIS, Calif. (KSEE) – Ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics, KSEE24 is featuring local athletes who excel in Olympic sports.
Flag football will make its Olympic debut in 2028 in Los Angeles. Locally, we have a youth flag football league that partnered with the NFL. Flag football gives kids the opportunity to display their skills without the contact.
“My goal is representation in the Olympics in 2028. There’s so many talented kids playing sports in the Valley that have never put on a set of pads” said co-coordinator Curtis Brown.
Local athletes have the ability to showcase their skills without experiencing physical contact.
Flag football at the 2028 games will also have women competing. The Clovis flag football league is hoping to expand within the coming years and make an all-girls league.
“With the growth of women’s sports and women’s flag there’s enough on the rise that we can get some teams together. There’s a lot of interest” said co-coordinator Tom Carroll.
