Benicia, St. Pat’s boys volleyball teams pick up wins – Times-Herald

The Benicia High boys volleyball team defeated Clayton Valley Charter in three games on Tuesday.

The Panthers won 26-24, 30-28, 25-20.

Miguel Figueroa had nine kills for the Panthers, while also picking up seven digs. Kaden Estrada had four aces and nine digs, while Joseph Yoon had eight digs. Keanu Villanueva had 15 assists for Benicia.

Benicia improved to 7-2 overall and 4-1 in the Diablo Valley Athletic League with the victory.

St. Pat’s 3, Pinole Valley 0

The St. Patrick-St. Vincent High boys volleyball team swept Pinole Valley on Wednesday.

St. Pat’s won 25-21, 21-17, 21-18.

The Bruins improved to 5-10 overall, 2-4 in the Tri-County Athletic League with the victory.


San Marin 3, Benicia 0

The Benicia High baseball team lost to San Marin 3-0 on Wednesday.

The Panthers were led in the loss by Stevie Todd, who had three hits. Xander Estrada had two hits, while Jacob French and Myles Cooper also had hits for the Panthers.

Benicia fell to 4-2-1 on the season with the loss. The Panthers play Friday at home against Miramonte.

College Softball

Sierra 15, Solano 1

The Solano College softball team lost to Sierra on Tuesday, 15-1.

The Falcons Lindsay Feinberg had two hits, while Naiya Watts and Madalyn Bruce also picked up hits.

Alexis Wright took the loss in the circle for Solano.

The Falcons fell to 3-5-0 on the season with the loss.

College Baseball

American River 5, Solano 3

The Solano College baseball team lost to American River 5-3 on Wednesday.

The Falcons were led in the loss by Alex Gaela, who had three hits and three RBIs.

Joshua Petrill took the loss on the hill for the Falcons, but not before striking out 11 batters.

Solano is now 9-12 and 3-1 in the Bay Valley Conference.

Youth football

Fundraiser coming on Sunday for Coach Sarna League

The Coach Sarna League, a Non-Profit youth activities league in Vallejo, is having a Pop-Up Fundraiser at Tacos Jaliscos at 3420 Sonoma Blvd in Vallejo on Sunday.

The event is scheduled for that day from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

There will be a raffle, dancing, music, vendors with specialty merchandise, food and prizes.

Proceeds from the event will go towards The Coach Sarna League Scholarship Fund. The Coach Sarna League is named after long time Hogan High School Coach and Athletic Director Ed Sarna. The League has a motto that “every child should play, regardless of their financial ability”.

The league has an NFL Youth Flag Football League as well at a STEM League which is a competitive Lego Building League.
