Former Central Michigan University and Dallas Cowboys cornerback Vince Agnew is set to host a football camp Sunday at Laker High School.
The Michigan Made Youth Football Camp is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 7, for youth in the first through eighth grade. It will run from 6-8 p.m.
Agnew will be leading the camp. Laker football coach Dave LeVasseur said Agnew has worked with he and the team for the past season.
“He’s brought youth Flag Football to Laker,” he said. “We’ve collaborated with him and he’s used some of our guys to work the flag football games on Saturdays. Our boys will come in in the mornings and they’ll officiate the games. Prior to that, they have mini-camps for the youth. Our guys will help out those camps as well.”
LeVasseur also said Agnew will keep the camp basic, as far as skills and drills that will be instructed there.
“Our guys are supplemental,” he said. “He runs the show. Our guys are directed, and Vince gives them a direction to follow through. It won’t be high-end or complex. It’ll be basic and introductory. He tailors things pretty well. All the kids and attendees will get a bit of something based on ability or skill level.”
The cost of the camp is $35, and proceeds benefit the Michigan Made Scholar Athlete Fund.
“You can sign up all the way until camp time,” he said. “If you see this story before that time, please seek out any information and get your kids there.”
More information on the camp, as well as registration, can be found at www.michiganmade.net/youthfootball.
