Here are the top three stories in Fredericksburg today:

1. A student at Chancellor Middle School in Fredericksburg brought a loaded .45 caliber handgun to class, according to the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office, The student was taken into custody and will face criminal charges. No students or staff members were threatened or injured. As of Friday, the investigation is ongoing. (Fredericksburg Patch)
2. A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on northbound I-95 in Spotsylvania County. The incident occurred early Friday morning, resulting in the closure of the roadway for several hours. The details regarding the number of vehicles involved, any driver injuries, and the reason for the pedestrian’s presence on the road have not been disclosed as of Friday. Virginia State Police will provide further information as the investigation progresses. (Patch)
3. The Lloyd Moss Free Clinic in Fredericksburg has received a grant of $56,000 from the Delta Dental of Virginia Foundation. The grant will be used to hire a part-time dental hygienist, allowing the clinic to expand its services to include preventive measures such as treatments and regular cleanings. This will help improve the overall oral health of the clinic’s patients, many of whom have chronic medical conditions exacerbated by poor dental health. The grant is part of a larger initiative by Delta Dental to support safety-net providers and address oral health needs in Virginia. (Fredericksburg.com)
